What to Expect from a Golf Performance Assessment

A golf performance assessment is not a golf lesson. You won't be told to "keep your head down" or "swing more inside." Instead, the goal is to understand how your body moves, where it is limited, and how those limitations are showing up in your swing.

What we measure

The assessment starts with a full body movement screen. We look at how well your hips, shoulders, spine, ankles, etc., move through the ranges that matter for golf. Tightness, imbalance, or instability in one area usually forces another area to compensate. Over time, those compensations become swing habits that are hard to break.

We also look at basic strength, power, and speed metrics. Can you create force from the ground? Can you rotate and extend without losing posture? Can you accelerate the club with control? These numbers tell us whether the limitation is physical, technical, or both.

And often overlooked is balance. Your ability — or inability — to balance yourself can have a huge impact on your clubhead speed.

Why assessment comes first

Every program at Train To Perform is built from the assessment. Without it, training is guesswork. With it, we can target the exact movement, strength, or mobility issue that is holding your swing back. You will leave the session with a clear picture of where you are, where you are going, and how we will get there.

Who should get assessed

The assessment is for golfers of every level. Whether you are a junior trying to build speed, an adult trying to play without pain, or a competitive player chasing a lower handicap, the assessment gives you the roadmap. It is also the foundation for our remote coaching programs, since we use the same data to build your online training plan.

If you are tired of guessing why your swing breaks down under pressure, an assessment is the right place to start.
